IO-Dynamics optimises charging processes for METRO Germany's electric trucks

METRO Germany has been using electric trucks, including the Mercedes eActros 300, for delivery operations at its Neuss and Essen locations since November 2024. To ensure the efficient and reliable operation of its electric truck fleet, METRO relies on the intelligent software solution from IO-Dynamics.

The innovative charging management software optimally controls the DC charging infrastructure (Alpitronic Hypercharger HYC50) based on demand and efficiency. It analyses available energy, creates an optimized charging plan for the next 24 hours and implements it automatically.

What makes this software unique is its ability to consider not just the charging infrastructure, but also the status of each individual electric truck. For example, a vehicle with a lower state of charge is prioritized and receives more charging power than a truck with a relatively higher charge level. This prevents overloads, optimizes energy distribution and ensures maximum availability of the electric trucks.

Greater efficiency and full transparency

The software from IO-Dynamics enables transparent monitoring of electric mobility and ensures that the electric trucks are reliably ready for the next tour - a key factor for METRO Germany's daily logistics processes.

A key advantage is the comprehensive monitoring approach, which not only tracks the charging process but also includes vehicle performance. As a result, potential faults can be detected at an early stage and adjustments can be made quickly if operating procedures change. This ensures maximum availability and flexibility of supply.
